These latches were used in late production 1957 (after serial # 4500)
The 56-62 rear soft-top latches on deck lid can break if not properly latched. General Motors recommended that the rear latch be latched first. The following is from your owner's manual.
Please note:
1. Hook the latches to the windshield header, but leave loose
2. Latch the rear bow to the body
3. Lock the windshield header latches
