Instructions:
- Work in a well-ventilated area and have a fire extinguisher nearby. Relieve fuel system pressure per vehicle service manual and disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Safely raise and support the vehicle on jack stands or use a lift. Place a drain pan under the tank and drain remaining fuel if needed.
- Support the fuel tank with a floor jack. Remove any heat shields or obstructing components to access straps and connections.
- Disconnect electrical connector(s) to the fuel sending unit and detach fuel lines and vapor/vent hoses. Cap lines to prevent spills and contamination.
- Carefully unbolt and lower the tank straps a little at a time, keeping the tank supported. Lower the tank and remove it from the vehicle.
- If transferring the sending unit or other hardware, remove the sending unit per service instructions and install into the new tank with a new gasket or O-ring.
- Position the new tank under the vehicle and raise it into place. Align mounting points and loosely install the tank straps or mounting hardware.
- Reconnect fuel lines, vent hoses, and electrical connections. Torque straps and mounting bolts to factory specifications.
- Double-check all connections, replace any removed heat shields, and lower the vehicle. Reconnect the battery.
- Refill with fresh fuel, start the engine, and inspect for leaks. Verify proper fuel gauge operation and correct any issues before normal use.
