Instructions:
- Work in a well-ventilated area and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent sparks.
- Relieve any residual fuel pressure and, if necessary, siphon fuel into a safe container to reduce tank weight.
- Support the fuel tank with a floor jack and remove the tank mounting straps or bolts to lower the tank enough to access the sending unit.
- Disconnect fuel lines, vent hoses and electrical connector from the sending unit. Cap lines to prevent spills.
- Remove the sending unit retaining ring or mounting bolts and carefully lift the old unit out of the tank, taking care not to damage the float or arm.

- Lower the tank, reconnect the negative battery terminal, add a modest amount of fuel, and cycle the ignition to check for proper gauge operation and leaks.
- Start the engine and verify stable gauge readings during a short test drive. Recheck all connections and fittings for leaks after testing.
