Instructions:
  1. Work in a well-ventilated area and eliminate ignition sources; disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Relieve fuel system pressure per vehicle service manual recommendations and drain or siphon fuel into a safe container if needed.
  3. Access the sending unit—either through the trunk/inspection cover or by lowering the fuel tank depending on vehicle.
  4. Note the orientation and routing of the pickup tube and electrical connections before disassembly.
  5. Remove the old strainer from the 3/8" pickup tube by sliding it off or unclamping it; discard the old unit.
  6. Inspect the pickup tube for damage or debris, then slide the new strainer onto the pickup tube until fully seated.
  7. Secure any retaining clips or clamps if applicable and reassemble the sending unit or reinstall the tank, reversing removal steps.
  8. Reconnect the battery, restore fuel, check for leaks, and cycle the ignition to verify correct fuel gauge and pump operation.
