Replacement power door lock switch designed for 1978–1982 Chevrolet Corvette models. This direct-fit switch restores reliable operation of the vehicle’s power locking system, replacing worn or intermittent OEM switches. Built for durability and consistent performance, it provides smooth, positive switch action and corrosion-resistant contacts for long service life. Ideal for restorations or routine maintenance, the unit installs quickly for a near plug-and-play replacement that returns factory-style control to your Corvette’s door locks.
Features:
  • Fits 1978–1982 Chevrolet Corvette (driver and/or passenger door application—verify side before ordering).
  • Does not have LOCK wording on switch, see part 1002453 for the reproduction switch.
  • Direct-fit replacement designed to match original switch dimensions and mounting locations.
  • Durable construction with robust internal contacts to resist wear and corrosion.
  • Restores consistent, positive operation of power door locks and reduces intermittent failures.
  • Easy to install—designed for plug-and-play wiring with no modifications required.
  • Ideal for classic Corvette restoration projects or routine electrical maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-45 minutes per door
Suggested Tools:
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Trim panel removal tool (plastic preferred)
  • 7mm socket or 1/4" socket and ratchet
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Electrical contact cleaner (optional)
  • Multimeter (optional for diagnostics)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorting.
  2. Remove the door panel: locate and remove visible screws, then use a trim panel tool to carefully pry off the panel retaining clips. Lift the panel away to expose the switch area and wiring.
  3. Locate the power door lock switch assembly and remove any trim bezel or retaining clips securing the switch.
  4. Unplug the wiring harness from the back of the old switch. If connectors are tight, depress the locking tab before pulling.
  5. Remove the old switch from the bezel by releasing the retaining tabs or screws, then install the new switch into the bezel until it snaps or seats securely.
  6. Reconnect the wiring harness to the new switch. Reconnect the negative battery terminal temporarily and test the switch for correct lock/unlock operation before reassembling the door panel.
  7. If operation is correct, disconnect battery again, reinstall the door panel and secure all screws and clips, then reconnect the battery and perform a final functional check.
